Hi, I'm an Ostomate. I know how you feel. I've been there. I'm one of a million Ostomates in North America who are leading normal happy lives. We have been given a second chance. We work, make love, have babies, take part in sports, travel and eat delicious food.

From the President’s Desk:

Hello Everyone:

Welcome to our new members. We have 7 new members in the last month.

Last night was our January general meeting, which was a Rap Session.  This meeting was co-ordinated by Doug Graham and myself. It was very interesting and we gained new insight. I like these sessions also, someone always comes up with good questions. Of course the hot topic for everybody these days is the Airport body scanners. Everybody likes Rap Sessions, so we will try to incorporate more into our schedule.  Thank you Mae for your donation of the wonderful food.

We will be back to having our meeting on the third Thursday, February 18th.

It has been suggested by one of our members to send the membership renewal notices by email as a cost saving effort.  After discussion at our Board Meeting on Tuesday, it was decided that we would find out who would like to participate.  If you have email and would like to have your membership renewal notice sent electronically, please send an email to info@ostomyottawa.ca. Please put in the subject line  - UOSGOI INVOICE.  Last fall, I sent out emails about activities that happened between newsletters and several came back undeliverable.  So if you have changed your email address PLEASE reply to the above with your new address.

This is the link to the Connection newsletter put out by United Ostomy Association of Canada www.ostomycanada.ca/publications/uoaconnection.  This newsletter is very interesting.  There are many Ostomy Groups out there with online information and/or newsletters.  One of my favourites is http://www.ostomy.evansville.net This newsletter website has lots of information, hints etc.  This is from Evansville, Indiana.  Ostomy Trivia  - here I come.

Thank you to the members who have been helping out at the front desk. Your assistance is much appreciated.

February 18th meeting will have Kim Norman from Coloplast as the guest speaker.  Write down your questions and bring them to this meeting.  See you then.

Respectfully
Your President
Deborah Lalonde
