Hi, I'm an Ostomate. I know how you feel. I've been there. I'm one of a million Ostomates in North America who are leading normal happy lives. We have been given a second chance. We work, make love, have babies, take part in sports, travel and eat delicious food.

VACANCIES, HELP NEEDED!      We are in need of volunteers to help with social activities, i.e. at monthly meetings, set up snacks, beverages, attend to sign in desk, activities at Christmas party, and at the Annual General Meeting.      We are interested in increasing the number of Visitors, persons who are comfortable with their surgery and willing to speak about it with others who are about to have or have just had the same type of surgery.      We also are looking for participants for the Board of Directors. The following is a description of the duties of a Director: Duties of a Director as described in the "United Ostomy Support Group, Ottawa Inc. Handbook": "The directors of the Corporation may administer the affairs of the Corporation in all things and make or cause to be made in the Corporation's name any lawful contract.  May exercise all powers as the Corporation by its charter or otherwise is allowed to exercise.  Shall attend, where possible all Board of Director's meetings. Shall arrange speakers and topics for general member meetings. Shall help the Board of Directors set policy for the United Ostomy Support Group, Ottawa Inc.  Shall help initiate and supervise all fundraising ventures.  May, with the permission of the Board of Directors, purchase, lease or otherwise acquire or sell or otherwise dispose of properties of the Corporation. Shall, upon leaving office, hand over to successor all records, keys and handbooks of his office and familiarize successor with duties of a director."     Board of Directors consists of: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and six directors. Executive Officers: Membership, Newsletter Editor, Newsletter mailing and printing, Librarian, Reception/Hospitality/Social Convener, Visiting Coordinator, Youth Ostomy/Pelvic Pouch Group Coordinator.
